Bauchi state government has shed more light on its recently announced plan to recruit 3 thousand teachers in the state.

The Executive Secretary of the state universal basic education board Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri gave the clarification when he featured on Eagle Radio Live phone in program, Ana Tare.

Alhaji Adamu Duguri said Governor Bala Muhammad will recruit 2000 primary teachers and 1000 post primary school teachers for the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Sciences to encourage and promote teaching and learning.

The SUBEB boss said the number of out of school children in the state has dropped from over 1.5 million to less than 600 thousand.

In order to sustain this achievement, Alhaji Adamu Duguri called on communities to report any teacher to his office for deserting their duty posts.

On the number of schools under the board, the Executive Chairman disclosed plans to reduce the number which is over 4,000 by merging some of the schools together.

He further disclosed plans by the state government to hand over payment of teachers salaries to his board for enhanced management.

The SUBEB chairman who noted with concern the high number of female teachers in urban areas while the few male teachers posted to rural areas often abandon their duty posts, assured their readiness to correct the anomaly.
